Renters are usually prohibited from making extreme structural changes to their apartments or condos. For this reason, electric fireplaces are the ideal solution for renters looking to add the heat or ambiance of a fireplace to their home. A fireplace that runs on electricity doesn`t require venting, chimneys, or the structural changes that would come with installing a traditional or gas fireplace. Corner electric fireplaces simply plug in to standard outlets. Plus, they are much safer and cleaner than wood-burning or gas fireplaces. Electricity-based fireplaces are a way for people to have a fireplace in their small space, and not lose their security deposit. There are no ashes, soot nor risk of sparks flying out and ruining the carpet. Fireplaces that run on electricity can heat a room up to 400 square feet, and are very cost-efficient. They are a great source of supplemental heat in the winter, and can be run without the heater for warmth and ambiance all year round. Those who live in a smaller space don`t have to go without a fireplace any longer - smaller and corner electric fireplaces are the perfect space-saving solution for any small living space.
Whether you are building a new home or are remodeling an older one, a Fireplace can plays a vital roll in the comfort and overall beauty of your home. The newer Masonry Fireplace have high efficient air-circulating Fireboxes, Fresh air room vents, warmed air Blowers, and Glass Doors. The good news is that many of the old style Masonry Fireplace, can be brought right up to same efficient level as the newer ones. There many new facing material that can go right over the old Brick Work, this can be done with out even tearing out the old Brick. A Gas insert can be placed in side a older Brick Fireplace and bring efficient levels up to over 80 percent. As a masonry-contractor in the Seattle area for 35 years we have remodeled hundreds of older Fireplaces, the best of two worlds is we can not only beautify your Fireplace but it can be made to be efficient.
When selecting a fireplace screen most often the room décor, and style and fitting the size of the fireplace are primary considerations. A fireplace screen can be as ornate or as simple as the style of the room dictates. A fireplace screen can add to the beauty of a room while assuring that the unprotected floor or carpeting is safe from flying sparks and the fire itself kept apart from curious pets and small children. While it is true that a fireplace insert is great for bringing life back to that old traditional or gas fireplace you have sitting dormant in the living room, a fireplace insert can do so much more for your home. If you have ever looked around your home and wondered how much it would cost to put a fireplace in a certain wall, room or area, you will be surprised when you hear the answer. While construction and labor costs for a traditional or gas fireplace can cost upwards of ten thousand dollars, you can actually have a fireplace built for merely hundreds if you use a fireplace insert and some materials from your local hardware store. Now, I can`t deny that it is nice to have a wall mounted gas fireplace that lights with a simple remote. But, a wall mounted gel fireplace can be installed in merely hours for thousands of dollars less. So when you think about the fireplace insert when you think about new fireplace construction, you have possibilities that literally will never end. I have written reports, DIYs, articles and plenty of blog posts about most of the possibilities. It`s hard not to mention such unique areas as in the bathroom, bedroom, office, and dining room. Those are rooms that traditionally don`t have fireplaces even though a more contemporary trend has been to build certain types in these rooms. But, we can stretch our imaginations for some fireplace ideas that transcend even those.
The greatest way to save yourself money is to build a ventless fireplace with a fireplace insert and use gel fuel to make your fire. You can literally put a fireplace anywhere with just these items. Of course, you`ll need wood to build a structure and faux textures for your decorations. But, you can have a fireplace in a matter of days rather than a few weeks. If you want your own design, you can use your imagination to literally take you anywhere. First, decide where you want to put your fireplace. Figure out where the studs are in the wall. You can either locate your fireplace in the wall between the studs or in front of the wall. Build a faux hearth, a surround and even a faux chimney to the ceiling if you want. You won`t have to build it through the roof. It`s just there for looks. Bookshelves on the side are a nice touch. If you build a faux chimney, a flat screen television looks great above the mantel. Now, place your fireplace insert in the fireplace and light your gel fuel. Depending on how much quality and craftsmanship you put in the design of your fireplace, it will look exactly the way you want, completely original and totally functional.
The vented gas log fireplace offers the most realistic looking fire, realistic log design flame patterns and offer the easiest installation comparatively. Other fireplace designs have limitations regarding safety, installation and ease of use. Vented gas logs can be used in a fireplace built to burn wood if a gas line is added and vented gas fireplaces are available in stand-alone fireboxes and mantles. Vented gas fires are also available in all the alternative designs that do not use realistically painted ceramic logs. Gas logs reduce the amount of emissions into the air, are easy to control and do not carry the same safety concerns as wood- burning fireplaces. Gas logs are not always less expensive than a wood burning fireplace but they are convenient, easy to use controls, easy to change designs and do not require the use of electricity.
Wall mount, freestanding electric stoves and corner electric fireplaces can each seamlessly blend in to an existing room`s decor, as each come in various styles and sizes. Small electric fireplaces in a traditional style with rollers, commonly referred to as Amish fireplaces, are yet another option to consider. These are totally portable, so they can be moved from room to room if desired. No matter which type of fireplace, all types can be plugged into standard outlets, and can be operated with or without the heater for year-round usage. Over the past year or so, people have begun seeking smaller homes once again. Many singles, couples, and small families don`t feel the need for a lot of space, and enjoy their smaller, cozier homes. However, many people in the past have felt that they had to sacrifice having a fireplace for keeping their small home. There are several types of electric fireplaces that offer the look and feel of a real fireplace, and fit easily into smaller spaces.
